About Time!

So I guess it's time I finally got around to creating a new blog. Now that I'm not a student nurse anymore, it seems pretty pointless to continue writing on that blog. Just prior to my last day of class, however, I did find out that I was pregnant and figured now I could continue the blogging now that I have a family on the way. Now that we're creating our own little piglets (hence the web address). I was planning on waiting until I let all my family know about our little one on the way, and then I just kept putting it off, never able to find the time. Well I need to start now before I forget about all the fun, and not so fun, parts of this pregnancy so that I can remember it later. I've never been much of a journal writer for several different reasons, and I think having a blog makes it so much easier. So this first post will just be catching up on the past 20 weeks, and then hopefully I can keep it more up-to-date.

May 7, 2009 - 4.3 weeks - On my last day of my HURST review, and just prior to our exit HESI's and my official last day of school we found out that we were expecting our first child. Of course I called the doctor's office the very next day so I could get an appointment scheduled to hear that heartbeat for the first time.

May 12-19, 2009 - 5.1 - 6.1 weeks - Went on vacation to Minnesota for the week with the entire family and kept the secret the WHOLE TIME!! WHEW!! Trust me guys that was hard work for me, and hopefully one day I'll be forgiven. Was sick the whole time and unbelievably tired. The descent into Chicago (of course the Windy City) was the worst ever and I'm so glad I didn't lose it. Also had to pee all the time and airplane bathrooms are not pleasant. :)

May 29 - 30, 2009 - 7.4-7.5 weeks - Pinning Ceremony and Graduation Day. Tons of parties and family and still kept my cool. Was sick during the ceremonies and dinner after the pinning did not sit very well with me, but I just couldn't let Grandma know. ;) Sorry Grandma!! Survived again and knew my appointment was just around the corner and then I could spill the beans.

June 8, 2009 - 9 weeks - Took my NCLEX-RN and wasn't too sick to make it through thank heavens!!

June 11, 2009 - 9.3 weeks - Had my first doctor's appointment and not only got to hear our new baby's heartbeat but got ultrasounds pictures too. Heartbeat was 184 and everyone, especially my SIL, was sure it had to be a girl. Niether of her boys' heartbeats were above 140 (is that scientific enough for you)? Also found out the day before that I passed my NCLEX-RN and that I was all official now.

June 21, 2009 - 10.6 weeks - Father's Day and family birthday party. Announced to the family we were expecting by giving grandma a build-a-bear with baby's heartbeat recorded into it. Very excited and can't wait to find out what we're having. Jill wasn't very happy with me "lying" in Minnesota so hopefully I can make it up to her one day.

July 30, 2009 - 16.3 weeks - Another doctor's appointment and of course a gender check. IT'S A BOY!!! Zachary David is well on his way and he's not shy to let us know he's a boy. Still getting nauseated, but overall feeling pretty good. Heartbeat is still in the 160's and can't wait till I can feel that first movement.

August 19, 2009 - 19.2 weeks - Felt Zach move for the first time that I'm aware of. I'm pretty sure I felt him before this, but this was the day that I knew without a doubt that it was him moving around in there. Can't believe there's actually a baby in there and so excited to feel him for the next 20 weeks. He can kick me anywhere he wants because it lets me know he's still there and that everything is okay.

August 27, 2009 - 20.3 weeks - Another doctor's appointment and the second trimester ultrasound. They're going to do a "part check" this week to make sure he has all his anatomy and that it appears to be functioning okay. Measurements are taken and he's measuring about 5 days ahead. Head is right on track and body is measuring a little big. Estimated size is around 1 pound (so why have I gained 9???) My stomach is measuring big (23 cm when it should only be 20) and I'm praying I don't have a 9 lb baby like the one I took care of at work the other day.

So that pretty much catches everything up. I'll add more if I think of it. I'm at 21 weeks and in between appointments. Still feeling sick early in the mornings and still trying to get used to eating little meals more often. I feel him move everyday and I don't think there is anything else that makes me happier. It's an awesome feeling and boy is he a wiggler. Can't wait to meet him in 19 weeks (give or take).

  1. I forgive you!!! I was just sad for just a minute that friends found out before family but now I'm totally over it & can't wait to meet Zachary! In fact, I've already got a ton of ideas in my head for your shower. So many decoration ideas!
