It's so much harder to stay on top of the updates when I'm home and have things to do. I've been feeling great. I'm getting around really well and am able to drive myself up to the hospital to see Zach. I was surprise that recovery from a c-section could be so easy. Zach is 12 days old today, and I've lost about 50 pounds since delivery. It feels amazing especially since I only gained 40 while I was pregnant. And yes I'm definitely going to brag about that.
Zach is doing awesome. He's still in the NICU but now we're just waiting for him to learn to eat. His IV came out for good on Wednesday and he's taking everything in through his NG tube. On Thursday night they dressed him and turned off his warmer and his been able to maintain his temperature ever since. We started trying to breastfeed on Thursday and he's showing more and more interest each day. When I can actually get him to open his mouth he latches on really well and will suck a couple times and then gets tired and pulls off. He wants to take the easy way out and keep eating through the tube, but I've told him eating is so much more fun when you can taste it. He's slowly figuring it out and I know pretty soon the lightbulb will go on and he'll be eating like a champ. His electrolytes are stable and the nephrologist has signed off on him for while he's still in the hospital. We'll have to continue follow up throughout his infancy and childhood, but he's stable for now. He had one "A and B" episode on Thursday night (oxygen saturations and heart rate dropped) which means they have to monitor for at least 7 days. Next Friday would be the soonest he can come home, assuming he doesn't do that again and learns how to eat. The feeding tube is scheduled to be changed on 12/10 which is Thursday, so hopefully he can have it figured out by then.
That's basically all that has been going on with both of us. Still working on trying to get his room ready and just preparing ourselves for him to come home. Cross your fingers he figures out how to eat quickly and can get out of that crazy place!!
