4 Months

Zach turned 4 months old on Tuesday, and had his appointment on Wednesday. He weighed in at 11 pounds even and is 23 inches long. These are both somewhere around the 3rd percentile, so he's still just tiny. If you use his adjusted age, however, he's around 30th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. He received all of his shots, and was not a happy camper for a couple days, but we're starting to get our smiley boy back. He also had another nephrology appointment today and everything is looking great. His labs look wonderful, and they just slightly adjusted his medications. They didn't increase his total daily volume, so we'll just keep working toward his old goal, and see if we can't surpass it in the near future. This time he gained around 23 grams per day (average for normal kids is 25-35), so he's still doing really well with his weight gain.

Here's a few things we love about him at 4 months:

-Still smiles all the time and is talking like crazy.

-Getting stronger everyday. Tolerates tummy time a little bit more, but still doesn't lift his head much. Still working on holding his steady, but I think we're way close. Does great at supported sitting.

-Not only does he continue to discover his face, but he also loves shoving his fists into his mouth, sometimes both at the same time. But won't take a pacifier.

-Loves his dad. He is a huge daddy's boy, although David will never admit it. David can get him to take his meds, quiet down, or fall asleep at the drop of a hat, when mom has been trying for who knows how long.

-Still loves to watch his mobiles on his swing and in his play yard. Just today he discovered the toys on his carseat, and that he can lift his hands and bat at them to make them spin. This was a fun discovery for mom to watch.

He's definitely behind in many aspects (but right on track based off adjusted age), but he makes up for it in areas. I'm hoping over the next month he'll start holding his head up, and we're going to try for more tummy time so that he can develop those muscles.

Watch for a post in the next couple days and I'll post some updated pictures (just don't have them with me now)
