I could make my blogging life so much easier if I would keep my posts up to date. This is going to be a short, concise (hopefully) update of everything that's happened in the last month (which I'm sure hasn't been much).
-Zach turned 17 months old on the 23rd and then we celebrated Easter. We didn't do much for Easter because Zach still doesn't understand the concept of it, and since he doesn't walk yet I figured going to a community Easter Egg Hunt would be a little difficult. Maybe next year. I bought him a few $1-2 toys from Walmart with a bucket (the bucket being his favorite of them all) along with some pretzels for him to lick the salt off. We had fun spending time with family that weekend. Zach had a blast chasing all his cousins around the house. It was so nice to see him have so much fun with all the other kids. He also got a stuffed bunny from grandma great and a stuffed dog from grandma, which he picked out himself at walmart.
- Zach has learned how to throw temper tantrums to get what he wants. The difficult thing is when he's handing us a toy and throwing a tantrum, but we have no clue what he wants us to do with it. It's definitely a work in progress and if he would just learn to talk it would make everyone's life easier.
-Shortly before he turned 17 months I bought some applesauce called "Buddy Fruits" for Zach to try to eat. It comes in a container similar to a capri sun, and I was hoping he could suck the sauce out of the opening like a straw. We got home and within five minutes he had eaten the entire thing. We have since continued to buy these by the dozens, and I'm hoping to gradually add some texture to it to help him in the eating department. He continues to suck on and lick different table foods and occasionally takes bites (which he then spits out), but we seem to be making good progress in that area. Eventually he'll teach himself to chew and swallow and then we'll be in business.
-The day after Easter (April 25th) Zach decided he wanted to purposefully stand unsupported and then proceeded to shock us by taking 3 steps. Within the week he was taking as many steps as he wanted, remained steady the entire time, and then sits down when he chooses. Just like every other developmental milestone he went from not even trying to doing it perfectly all on his own time. Now he's walking all over the house and getting in to extra trouble.
-We've started going to more and more bee's games as a family and as it continues to warm up we'll be able to take Zach to even more. They are so much fun and already this season Zach has brought home 2 foul balls.
-We had a nephrology check-up beginning of May. His labs are looking fabulous (his dehydration labs have actually improved). He weighed in at 20 lbs 13.5 ounces (3rd percentile) and was 30.2 inches long (9th percentile). We're continuing our work on solids and trying to get him to drink as much milk with carnation instant breakfast as he can manage in the meantime.
-On the weight loss topic...on April 1st I started another round of Biggest Loser. Since I started the contest I've lost 7 pounds, making my total since January 22 pounds. It's amazing how much easier it is to work out when you weight 22 pounds less. As of this last Sunday (May 8th) I'm currently in 1st place. I really hope I can stay in the lead because I could really use that money to purchase a new wardrobe since my clothes are getting too big.
I've been a horrible mom over the past couple months and haven't even had my camera batteries charged so I haven't been able to think about taking pictures. I'm hoping to take some more this week and get some cute 18 month old pictures. Also next month my wonderful aunt, uncle, and cousins will be in town for several weeks and we'll get some fun family pictures. So excited to see them before they leave us for another 3 years. I need to start saving my money now so I can afford that ridiculously expensive plane ticket to Saipan. Despite all the extra hours I'm working (David was laid off last January), I'll try my hardest to stay updated now.
