Nothing New
There's not much to report since the last post. We're still waiting for Zach to come home, but we get closer and closer each day. We're on day 6 of 7 since his last "A and B" and they think it was related to his electrolytes being out of balance, which now seem to be much more under control. The only thing we're waiting for at this point is for him to pick up on the eating. Again. He finally got to where he was waking up for all his feedings and taking enough by mouth, when they increased the amount of fluid they wanted him to take in. Due to his syndrome, this ends up being a lot more than most neonates would be required to eat. As soon as they did that, he went back to sleeping through his feedings because he was no longer getting hungry as early. He's starting to figure it out again though and is taking more and more by mouth each day. The requirements now for him to go home would be that he takes everything by mouth and gains weight for 2 days in a row. The resident's goal for him is Monday or Tuesday, so hopefully he can start waking up and getting all that food down. I'm not sure he'll make it by Tuesday but he's more than welcome to surprise me. We're still hoping he gets it down by Christmas and he can come home and become my best Christmas present ever. We'll just have to wait and see.
