Getting Closer

Tomorrow marks the beginning of my 32nd week. This is a momentous occasion because this has been everyone's goal for me. I came off the nifedipine starting today (a medication to stop contractions). My doc says she took me off because if I'm on it too long, it might not end up working when it is needed the most. I think she took me off because she's not as concerned about stopping contractions. If I start having painful contractions or more than 6 Braxton Hicks in an hour, I'm supposed to call out for a dose of the nifedipine. We'll see if that happens. :) David has started threatening to break my water with an IV pole, and mom wants to find out where the pressure points are that are supposed to induce labor. I'm hoping that soon I'll just sneeze hard enough that he'll come flying out. Right now survival rate is very high (at least 90%) and he may or may not have issues with breathing, feeding, and temperature regulation. Feeling pretty good about being 32 weeks and know I'm in the right place to deliver a preterm baby.

I've been feeling absolutely wonderful the past couple of days. My AFI is still very high, but much lower than it has been and I feel much more mobile than I have been the past week and a half. My stomach isn't as tight as it has been, and any pain from my kidney infection has resolved. I'm still on antibiotics, but I'm not having any symptoms. My feet and legs are finally getting back down to a normal size, and I'm back to my pre-hospitalization weight. Now we just wait until he decides to make an appearance and ward off any perinatalogists coming at me with a needle. Hopefully another reduction isn't needed (at least not soon) and I'm really excited to see how amazingly cute this little boy is going to be. (By the way, had a dream last night that he weighed over 16 pounds and was 27 inches long. Let's all pray that doesn't happen)

  1. I'm happy to hear that he is doing okay. Sorry you have to go home without him, but he will be home soon enough!!
