Happy New Year!!

Well we didn't quite get the Christmas present we were wishing for, but we did get him for New Years. Zach came home on December 29th, just in time for 2010. The past two weeks have definitely been an adventure. We are finally experiencing the almost sleepless nights and the every 3 hour feedings and the many diaper changes. It's amazing how much we prayed for this kid to finally come home. Despite all the frustrations though, we love having him around. He's a little bit more complicated than any other baby because we have to make sure he eats his daily requirements and his medications are due every 6 hours, but we're working together and figuring it all out. He's spending more and more time awake and it's so much fun to listen to him talk and seeing his beautiful smile. Auntie Amy got him a mirror for Christmas and he will just sit there and stare at himself for over an hour, talking the whole time. He's a huge cuddler, especially with mom, which is wonderful except for when it keeps mom awake all night because he won't let her put him down.

Yesterday was his due date, and I can't believe he's 7 weeks old when he's not even supposed to be here yet. We had an appointment with his nephrologist and he's doing wonderful. His labs look really good and he's gaining weight like a champ. He's up to 6 pounds 10.7 ounces and almost 20 inches long. He's averaging about 25 grams weight gain per day, and his dietician increased the amount he needs to eat each day. Hopefully he can achieve these amounts and keep taking his medication by mouth, so that we can take out his pesky NG tube.

Not much else is happening with us. Neither of us has made it back to work yet, so we just hang out with Zee all day long, which is good for catching up on sleep. I go back to work on February 4th and we're not sure yet when David will be going back. February was the last we heard for work to pick back up, but we don't know if that's still the plan or what part of February it will be. As much as I need, and partly want, to go back to work, I'm going to miss spending all this time with my little guy. He's growing up fast and is slowly becoming more and more interactive and I don't want to miss anything.
