15 months

Now that my handsome little man is 15 months old, I realized I never took 14 month old pictures. Oh my, what kind of mother am I? ;) If you even believe it's possible, Zach is getting cuter every single day. We had appointments this month with both his nephrologist and pediatrician and he's doing spectacular. At the nephrologists office he weighed in at 19 pounds 6 ounces (2nd percentile) and was 28 3/4 inches long (9th percentile). His labs looked great and his dr decided to take him off his sodium supplementation. We'll continue the potassium (which he'll take his entire life), continue miralax (poor kid gets very constipated without), and continue his prevacid. We're continuing him on whole milk (actually we started him on lactose-free hoping maybe it would make a difference in his vomiting), but we're supposed to mix it with coffee creamer to add calories. Eventually we'll work up to half milk, half coffee creamer which would increase his milk calories from 160 per 8 ounce bottle to 320. If that doesn't make him fatter then nothing will. After about a week of trying the creamer, I'm not sure it's my favorite way of fattening him up, and I'm considering trying carnation instant breakfast. By adding this it would have 290 calories per 8 ounce bottle.

Speaking of bottles...several weeks ago we decided we wanted to be done with bottles and started giving him all his drinks in a sippy cup. He had no issues whatsoever and he's now completely off bottles! Woohoo!! Still doesn't want to eat solid foods (not even stage 2 baby food) but we're slowly working with a speech therapist on this issue and she's anticipating a long process to get him eating normal foods. We've started to go to feeding classes this week and things seem to be going okay. The therapists were very impressed at how well he did, even though he wouldn't put any of the food in his mouth. They said most kids come in and won't even sit at the table, so he's already advanced in that area. We'll keep taking him as much as we can, and hopefully he'll start to not only eat the foods, but keep them down and enjoy eating.

Had to show off the curls!

We also had a well-child check and at their office his weight was 19 pounds 12 ounces (<3rd percentile) and 29.5 inches long (12th percentile). He got his 15 month shots and otherwise looked wonderful.

-Still crawling and cruising all over the house, but still scared of walking. Over just the past couple days, however, we got him to start walking behind one of his push toys. This was an amazing accomplishment and we are so proud of him. Still doesn't want to walk holding on to our hands, but any progress is good progress.

-Continues to mimic and jargons like crazy. Knows the sign for "more" and occasionally uses it correctly. Trying to teach him many other signs and I just ordered some baby flash cards hoping to try to increase his communication skills.

-Starting to watch and become interested in TV. Loves to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Jake and the Neverland Pirates (his favorite), Little Einsteins, and Monsters, Inc (will laugh at everything Boo says).

Watching Jake

-Loves to yell at everyone we meet. Will yell at people walking by at restaurants or at the grocery store. I've tried telling him a simple "hi" will do, but he insists on yelling at them instead.

-Just this past week has learned how to give kisses (tongue included) and also learned how to blow kisses. It's my favorite trick of his and I could kiss that sweet baby all day long. One day we were just sitting on the couch together watching tv and he turned around and gave me four kisses in a row! I didn't even have to ask for them. What a sweet little mama's boy!
