Around the time Zach turned 1 year old I finally admitted to myself that I had gained a lot of weight since he was born. I had a lot of weight gain ups and downs while I was pregnant and shortly thereafter (for obvious reasons), but have been steadily gaining ever since. On the day I delivered I was up 40 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight (during the last three weeks I was much higher than that because of all the fluid retention in my legs). By the time I was 10 days post-partum I had already lost 50 pounds and was down 10 pounds from pre-pregnancy. I briefly remember how amazing that felt. A couple weeks before Zach turned one, someone at my work had decided to organize a "biggest loser" competition. After debating for several days, I decided to join it and convinced myself that by losing $20 would be good motivation to lose the weight and try to win back my money. I had a hard time for the first little while and I'm going to blame it all on the holidays.
After the beginning of the year, I decided it was time to finally get serious about losing my "baby fat" and was hoping I could catch up in the remaining four weeks of the competition. About two weeks into January I decided to stop being cheap and fork out the dough to pay for weight watchers online. I've been really pleased with the success I have had, and I want to share it all on my blog so that I can keep myself motivated and accountable. I'm not sure I have the courage yet to actually put my weigh-ins on here like I have seen some people do to truly hold themselves accountable, but I do want to document at least once a month how much weight I've lost.
It's now been about a month since I've really been motivated. I'm trying to eat healthier, eat smaller portions, and in reality I've been eating more food, more frequently. Prior to now I would find myself not eating anything all day long and then I would have a very large (sometimes fast food or restaurant) dinner. Now I make sure I eat something for breakfast (usually a slim-fast) to give my metabolism that morning boost. I haven't yet gotten to the exercising part yet. My excuse is that I don't have appropriate tennis shoes for aerobics, walking, or whatever my heart desires, and I'm waiting for my ordered nikeid shoes to arrive in the mail. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. So far during the month of January I have lost... 7.8 pounds!! I've been averaging 1.5 to 2 pounds a week which is a perfect, healthy pace. I would love to lose up to 35 pounds which would take me around 4-5 months to complete. Just in time for summer! :)
Oh and p.s. I didn't win the "biggest loser" competition. I got too late of a start!
